Drawn to Burundi

The BFC has officially completed our first ever animation workshops! Italian-Canadian filmmaker Carito Ghioni taught two levels of introductory classes - one for youth aged 13-17, and another for filmmakers aged 18-30. The short films premiered on Saturday, September 24th and will be available online shortly. Stay tooned!



Two in Trouville

For the second year in a row, the BFC has partnered with the Off-Courts short film festival in Trouville, France, to bring Burundian filmmakers to the festival. Rudy Kimvuidi and Natacha Songore attended and also participated in the Kino Kabaret. See their films here.


BFC Grants Awarded

Two new projects by Fabrice Bayubahe and Olivier Iturerere won the first-ever BFC student grants. The $250 cah / $250 service grant was made possible by BFC's 2010 artist-in-residence Clara Long, who also served as a jury member, along with Papy Jamaica and Christopher Redmond. The short films will be completed in early 2012.
